January 2001 Reception
January, 2001 Gubernatorial candidate and NOVA
business executive, Mark Warner was our special guest at our
January 2001 reception that was hosted by the law firm Akin
Gump. INOVA Hospital’s new pediatric cancer unit was the recipient
of a truckload of new toys and books donated by our Angels.
TAN to Partner with Commonwealth
Consultants
The Angels Network will partner with Commonwealth Consultants
to provide a fishing trip complete with bus transportation,
hats, t-shirts, poles and catering for a group of children
living in a homeless shelter.
March 28, 2001 Sudhakar Shenoy, was our host
at The Palm Restaurant in Tyson’s Corner. The Angels stepped
forward with financial contributions to the Indian Earthquake
Relief Fund. Virginia’s Secretary of Technology, Don Upson,
was our special guest and he brought words of encouragement

June 14, 2001 The Angel’s reception was held
at the Ritz Carlton in Tyson’s Corner. Our host was Charlie
Thomas founder and CEO of Net2000. The Angels brought pool
toys and other swimming gear to support one of Charlie’s favorite
charities, ChildHelp USA.
September, 2001 In preparation of the 2001 School
Year, the Angels provided nearly $400 of backpacks for kids
who were in need.
November 14th, 2001 Jim Kimsey, hosted The
Angels Network at the exclusive Georgetown Club. That evening,
the Angels brought financial donations and supplies (including
a lap top computer) to support the Independent Living Program,
a Fairfax County program aimed at supporting children and
young adults in the foster care system. That evening the Angels
heard first hand from a young women who spent the majority
of her life in the foster care system, and how the ILP has
helped her get through college and establish a successful
career.
December 2001 One of our Board members, brought
to Angels Network attention a heart wrenching story and asked
if Angels would be interested in helping out. Connie Teets,
a single mother of two teenage girls, is a bus driver in PG
County and has been stricken with cancer. She requires special
treatments that are very costly and not covered by insurance;
these treatments may be her only hope to survive. The Angels
rallied together. There was an outpouring of financial support.
Within days contributions came in and Connie received nearly
$3,000 in financial support within weeks of the request.
December 2001 The Angel’ s President was contacted
by a local elementary school principal. One of her students
needed help. This studen'ts parents had separated and she
was living with her father, with little resources or help
in selecting clothing. This young girl was being ridiculed
by her peers and needed Within days the Angels had donated
$300 to this young woman so that she would have funds available
to buy appropriate clothing.
